Start with the problem rather than the function name. The finder points into the methods represented in CMNA and explains what assumption or piece of information makes each family useful.
This is a teaching map, not an automatic solver.
It cannot inspect your function, prove the necessary hypotheses, or decide that one method is universally superior. It is meant to connect a computational situation to the algorithms discussed in the book.
